The Runway Collection: Spring 2011

Casa Bini is proud to build on its philosophy of bringing beautiful fabrics made from sustainable fibers to the marketplace. In 2008, we introduced our first sustainable collection, BELLA VERDE, which quickly produced some of our best sellers. We are now adding another handsome collection made with sustainable fibers, the RUNWAY COLLECTION.
Casa Bini believes in the importance of supporting a greener environment through sustainable product. We are always on the look out for new and exciting product that is both appealing aesthetically and environmentally sound. Our goal is to introduce textiles that will appeal not only to the eye but to designers who value sustainability.

The Runway Collection fabrics are made of two luscious, sustainable fibers; Peruvian Alpaca and Egyptian cotton. Combined, they produce textiles like those used in men’s high-end, haute couture clothing that graces the runways of Milan, Paris and New York.
Alpaca is a creation of nature. They live on mountains in the Peruvian highlands. They are sheared (this actually protects them and gives them a longer life) and the fibers are hand sorted by experts to give us FIFTEEN undyed, natural shades! This fiber is rich, soft and luxurious. In Incan history, Alpaca clothing was known as “the robes of the royals.”
Egyptian cotton, of course, gets its name from the place of origin, Egypt. When grown in the US it is referred to as Pima cotton. It is grown to produce incredibly long, sturdy and staple fibers which, in turn produce a luxurious, soft hand with a beautiful sheen. Most people are now familiar with Egyptian cotton used in sheets, blankets and towels.

The Runway Collection has two beautiful patterns, Haute Couture and Haberdashery and a beautiful new finished throw, Lana Throw. The colors are combined to coordinate with bolder or softer palettes. Haute Couture is a stripe made of a satin weave and a small herringbone to give it a high-fashion look. Haberdashery conjures visions of a very high-end men’s hat shop that you would see on the streets of London. This is a beautiful herringbone pattern with some of the colors forming soft and sophisticated tweed like a fine Fedora.

Casa Bini is excited to present: Alpaca Throws

Casa Bini's new Alpaca throw blankets are made from the soft and luxurious hairs of the Alpaca animals, which are produced in a loving and cruelty free environment. The Alpacas roam freely outdoors in a mild climate and enjoy being farmed by small block holders who are passionate about caring for their animals.
They are shorn every year when the weather warms up in the early summer. The animals are not harmed during shearing and they are free to enjoy the summer without their winter coat. The fiber is processed in a certified organic mill and woven in an energy efficient boutique weaving mill, where textile waste is recycled. The self renewing nature and the longevity of Alpaca fiber contributes to the sustainability of a cleaner, greener environment.
The Alpaca is the only animal which can offer an enormous variety of natural colors in a soft, attractive and hard wearing animal fiber. The range of colors extends from white to black including diverse brown and gray shades. Approximately 20 shades of colors can be found in the natural wool. This extraordinary feature of the fiber allows us to present our Alpaca throws in beautiful colorways that are free of any dye and naturally hypoallergenic.
These incredibly soft and luxurious Alpaca throw blankets will make a beautiful and functional accent for your winter home decor or a gift of warmth for your loved ones during the holiday season.

Casa Bini Newsletter, April 2009 Issue
Are You Doing the Right Thing ???
Encourage your clients to “do the right thing” by choosing fabrics constructed of renewable source fiber and woven right here in the USA. You can achieve their need for a performance fabric in a fashion forward pallet, and simultaneously salve their conscience with a socially responsible choice.
In keeping with the times, Casa Bini is promoting the Bella Verde Collection (Green). Indulge your hand and visual aesthetic with these luxuriously textured fabrics: Karma, Insight, Pathways, Elements and Intertwine.
The Peacock Collection is promoting the newly released “Eco Wise Collection”. These two patterns Eco Wave and Eco Link woven right here in the USA, utilizing recycled polyester (plastic soda & water bottles).
Why Use Bamboo ???
Some great qualities of the bamboo yarn are:
- Bamboo possesses a property called “Bamboo Kun” which means that it is naturally anti-microbial. Even though processing into fabric and after fifty washes, bamboo fabrics retain their anti-bacterial nature, according to research by Japan Textile Inspection Association. This makes it suitable for those sensitive to allergens.
- Bamboo takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gasses as an equivalent stand of timber trees and releases 35% more oxygen. It needs no replanting, pesticides or fertilizers, and its roots retain water in the watershed, sustaining riverbanks and reducing water pollution.
- It has many of the qualities sought in “performance” and “easy care” fabrics without the drawbacks of synthetic material and it has many of the fashionable qualities of silk, while being sturdy and vegan.
Our Bella Verde (Beautifully Green) collection of fabrics comfortably transcend from residential to higher-end commercial applications. These fabrics are milled in the USA saving shipping fuel and adding to the greenness of the collection. Belle Verde is proud to introduce these five patterns: Karma, Insight, Pathways, Intertwine and Elements.

The second collection launched under the “Casa Bini Textiles” banner is “Luminoso”, meaning luminous in Italian. Upon viewing our new collection, we trust that you will agree with our name, “Luminoso”. The collection is comprised of drapery and light upholstery fabrics in stunning, but very usable colorways. As with Bella Verde, our premier collection, “Luminoso” is made up of textures and serves to bridge the gap between our best selling jacquards. Further, this grouping provides the line with drapery, light upholstery and bedding fabrics.

Casa Bini’s Intertwine, a bamboo fabric, is featured at Neo Con’s “Green Spot”.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________
We are very excited to share with you the first collection from Casa Bini, Bella Verde.
The following five patterns of the Bella Verde Collection are made using Bamboo fiber, which is a renewable “green” source. The Bella Verde Collection is milled in the USA, minimizing fuel use, and further contributing to a reduction of “carbon footprint”.
Karma is a pattern, possessing the clean, renewable qualities of bamboo, yet it is as soft and supple as cotton chenille. It has a contrasting warp, which adds unique dimension to the face. It is available in five very neutral, usable colorways.
Insight is another bamboo fabric with a subtle chain stitch effect providing for a tailored texture. It is an ideal choice as a medium weight upholstery fabric. Insight coordinates beautifully with existing patterns or with our new textures. It comes in 5 rich colors.
Pathways is an impressive stripe chenille on a twill background cloth creating a bold, dramatic look. This fabric will work well alone or as a coordinate. Its soft hand is perfect for any comfortable piece of furniture or as a great headboard! It comes in 6 sumptuous colors.
Intertwine is woven with soft chenille yarn blended with a novelty yarn providing interesting visual depth. This is a perfect fabric choice for any décor style from traditional to contemporary. The colors add to the versatility. It comes in 5 distinct colorways.
Elements, as its name suggests, is basically a soft, comfortable fabric with luxurious hand. A chenille yarn is combined with a boucle yarn, resulting in a luxurious texture with exceptional depth. It comes in 5 stunning colorways, each color providing a different sensation.
